Who We Are


SHPOA was founded in April 1939. Our key objectives are:


  • To promote and maintain community spirit and cooperative assistance among the residents of Shaughnessy;
  • To promote and preserve the legal rights of property owners in Shaughnessy;
  • To promote and preserve the architectural and landscape character of Shaughnessy;
  • To promote and preserve the single family streetscape.

First Shaughnessy


Between West 16th Avenue to the notth, King Edward Avenue to the south, Arbutus Street to the west, and Oak Street to the east, was originally developed by the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1907, and was designed as the city’s most exclusive residential enclave.

Second Shaughnessy


The subdivision grew south in 1912 with the creation of Second Shaughnessy, another approximately 400 acres between King Edward Ave. and West 33rd Ave.

Third Shaughnessy


Following the First World War, the addition of Third Shaughnessy pushed the subdivision all the way south to West 41st Avenue.

Members of SHPOA


If you are a home owner in Shaughnessy, you are elgible to join the association. SHPOA is your neighbourhood voice for questions and concerns. Our members receive regular updates on issues that affect our neighbourhood through newsletters. Members can become more directly involved by volunteering on the Board.
